A wagering requirement is the total amount you have to bet before bonus money becomes your money. Every number in this guide comes from the Bonus Terms and Conditions, with the term number next to it, so you can check each one yourself.
The number is 40x, and what it multiplies
Unless an offer says otherwise, a bonus carries a wagering requirement of 40 times the bonus amount (term 1.12). It multiplies the bonus, not your deposit.
- A 50 bonus needs 50 x 40 = 2,000 of bets.
- A 100 bonus needs 4,000.
- A 500 bonus, the maximum on the welcome offer, needs 20,000.
That last number is the one people miss. A large bonus is a large obligation, and taking the maximum is not automatically the best move.
Two balances, and which one is spent first
A bonus goes into a separate bonus wallet, apart from your real money (term 1.9). While a bonus is active, play uses your real balance first and the bonus balance after it (term 1.14). So the first bets you place after claiming come out of your own money, and the bonus starts working only once the real balance is empty.
Your real money stays withdrawable while a bonus is active, unless the offer says otherwise (term 1.9). The bonus and anything won with it are not, until the requirement is done.
When the bonus becomes real money
Complete the wagering and the bonus balance plus everything won from it converts to real money in your main balance (term 1.16). That is the only way bonus money becomes withdrawable.
Which games count, and by how much
This is where most casinos are complicated and ours is not (terms 1.21 and 1.22):
- Casino games: 100%. Slots, table games and live casino all count in full. A 10 bet contributes 10.
- Sportsbook: 0%. Sports bets do not move a casino wagering requirement at all.
The exception is a promotion that limits the bonus to specific games or studios. When it does, the limit is written on the offer.
The minimum deposit
Unless an offer states otherwise, a deposit bonus needs at least 20 EUR, 20 USD or 20 GBP, or the equivalent in another supported currency (term 1.11).
Withdrawing before the requirement is finished
If you request a withdrawal while wagering is incomplete, the remaining bonus balance and every win derived from it are forfeited (term 1.13). Your real balance is not affected. This is the most common way players lose a bonus, and it is avoidable: finish the requirement, or accept that the bonus goes.
If you lose it all first
If the deposit and the bonus are both gone before the wagering is complete, the remaining requirement is considered fulfilled and the bonus expires (term 1.15). Nothing carries over, and nothing is owed.
A worked example
You deposit 100 and claim a 100% match, so 100 of bonus at 40x, which is 4,000 of bets.
- You start with 100 real and 100 bonus.
- Your bets come out of the real 100 first. Nothing counts toward the requirement while you are still on the real balance, and nothing needs to: the requirement applies to the bonus.
- Once the real balance is gone, the bonus balance is in play, and every bet from it counts 100% if it is a casino game.
- At 1 per spin you need 4,000 spins. At 2 per spin, 2,000. Pick the stake from that arithmetic, not from the game.
- Finish it and the bonus balance, plus whatever you won with it, becomes real money.
A 96% RTP slot returns 96 for every 100 staked over a very long run, so 4,000 of turnover costs roughly 160 in expected loss. That is the real price of a 100 bonus, and it is why the requirement matters more than the headline.
The rules that void a bonus
Term 1.5 and term 1.18 cover this. Risk-free betting, hedging, irregular play patterns and multiple accounts can cost you the bonus, the winnings from it and the account. Term 1.8 limits bonuses to one per promotion per player, household, IP address, device and payment method.
Term 1.19 is worth knowing too: while a bonus is active, the bonus terms apply to your entire balance, real money included.
Two smaller rules
- No reload bonus while you have a pending withdrawal (term 1.17).
- You can opt out of bonuses by contacting support, and a bonus can be removed only before you bet any of it (term 1.10).
Choosing the game for the requirement
Since every casino category counts 100% here, the choice is about survival rather than contribution.
